The NGO “Naša djeca“ (Our Children) Sarajevo is a humanitarian, voluntary, multi-ethnic, non-governmental, non-partisan and non-profit voluntary association of affiliated citizens to protect the interests and fulfill the needs of children in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The organization has based its programs on the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The main objective of the Humanitarian Organization “Naša djeca” is to contribute through different projects to the process of respecting and realizing child rights in order to avoid discrimination against children, achieve the best interests of the child, realize the child inherent right to life and the right of children to have their voices heard as the basic principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The Association was founded in 1953 and works continuously to the present day.
Since 1993, the Humanitarian Organization “Naša djeca,” has been extensively dealing with the implementation of child rights and has successfully implemented a number of program activities:
1. Promotion of the Rights of the Child and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
2. Education and child participation in the promotion and protection of child rights
3. Education of professionals on the Rights of the Child (municipal officials, social workers, teachers, educators, members of the NGOs, etc.)
4. Analysis and monitoring the implementation of child rights at all levels of government
5. Printing manuals and brochures on the Rights of the Child
6. Organizing leisure time activities for children and youth at the Center for Child Rights, “Naša djeca” in Vogosca.
7. Encouraging creativity among children and for children
8. Celebrating important dates related to children and families (Children’s Week, Family Day, the Day of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, etc).
